A little while ago, we took a trip to Vietnam and had an absolute blast! We weren’t planning to go there this year but we found out last minute that the fabrication yard we worked at was going to shut down for a few days, so we were encouraged to take some time off to recharge. As soon as I heard this news, I started searching online for plane tickets – thinking of possible spots to spend 5 days and Vietnam immediately popped into my head. It had been on my travel wish list to visit here because I fell in love with the idea of taking a cruise of Halong Bay. So – I did just that…bought plane tickets and started researching cruises of Halong Bay. The next day, one of my friends was telling me that she wasn’t sure what her and her husband were going to do during that time so I invited them along. I sent them links to what I wanted to do and they were sold instantly (I can be quite persuasive with great travel ideas). We had an awesome dinner (complete with beer tasting) together and booked our Halong Bay Cruise and applied for our Visas…we were ready to rock!
Vietnam turned out to be better than we imagined and I can’t wait to tell you more about it! It’s funny because I feel like I’m adding to the list of places that my parents probably never thought I would visit when I was born - China, North Korea, Russia (I’ll have to post some stories about Russia another time), and now Vietnam. Sometimes the places you’d least expect to visit turn out to be the most memorable.
